The diary of Anne Frank (Act I, Act II)

p.832 (1-8)

1. Responce: the families must obey strict rules to avoid discovery. Which rules would be hardest for you to follow? WHy? The strict rule that would be the hardest for me is to not move or do anything from 9am to 6 pm because i cant do that because i lik to move around not just stay in one place and not move.



2. (A)Recall: In Scene 1 what objects does Mr. Frank find in the secret rooms?(B)Connect: How are these objects connected with the rest of the act? the objects the he found was a scarf, a women globe and Anne Diary. The Diary is conneted to the act because the diary is telling everything that happen during the Holocaust and people were hidding.



3, (A) Recall: what speacial meaning does Hanukkah have for the Families?(B)Deduce: what do Anne's presents show about her? (c) Interpret: Why do the other react with enthusiasm to their presents? The speacial meaning of Hanukkah is that all the families are together and have some presents. Anne's presents show about her that she is a giving person and that she could still give presents without buying nothing. They react because it was a good present like for My van daan she have him cigarettes and he was happy.



4. (A) Evaluate: With a partner ,discuss Mr. Frank's statemet, "there are .... no locks that anyone can put on your mind." How does Anne Prove that this is true. (B)Discuss: Share your answer with a partner and then with the rest of the class. Anne prove that its true because she is still a normal teenager and she still having fun.



5.(A) What is the historicalc cause that forces the Franks to go into hiding?(B) What effects does this situation have on their daily lives? The historical cause the franks to go into hiding is the Holocaust that where killing all jews. The effects that they have is to be hiding from 9am to 6 pm.



6. In scene 2, Anne and Peter dicuss the stars od the David on their clothes. (A) what effects do the Nazis intend the wearing of the stars to have on the jews? (B) What background information about the war and the Nazis' treatment of the jews helps you to link this cause with its intended effects? the Nazis intend wearing the stars and if they dont they will kill them. the war made me think that why would they do that.



7. Dialogue: Reveals character and relationship = Anne Frank and Mrs. Frank. they would always have aruguments. Mrs. Frank will say that if she could be like Margot but Anne says she wont be like her.

Advances the action of the plot = Miep. she will go to the Franks house and tell them news about the holocaust and about inations to other countries. she also gets them food if they need it. she is a dutch girl about in her twenties and gets them things they need.

Develops the Conflict = Mr. Dussel. he develops more the conflict because now there wont be a lot food and space for him so they would need to share more and also make room for him.

8. what their reveal is that there giving and wanted to help Mr. Dussel but Mr. Van Daan was selfish because he said that they wont be a lot of food and telling Frank things to convice him to say no but Mr. Frank is a giving person and did let him in even if they are low with food.

1. Respond: what do you like best about Anne frank? How would you like having her as a friend? what i like about Anne Frank is that she is spirited girl and always wat fun and giving peerson. i would like her as a friend because she is very fun.



2. (A)Recall: What disturbing news does Mr. Kraler bring on New Year's Day?(B) Connect: what hint does this give about the ending of the play? the disturbing news was that people could blackmail you and if they dont than they would take them to the Nazis. The hint that give of the end of the play was when Mr. Kraler that work with him wanted more money for he wont turn them in.



3. (A). Recall: what is the time span of the Act II? (B) Interpret: How have the characters changed since the End Of Act I?(C) Support: How do you know that Anne has change? The Time Soan of Act II was like 2 years. The characters have change but not alot like Mr. Van Daan was still selfish. I know that Anne has change because first she would act all grown up but then like a little kid but now she wasnt like that.



4. (A) Draw Conclusion: How can Anne that believe that .... "in spite of everything that happen i still think people are really good in heart?(B) Interpret: what does Mr. Frank Mean when he says "She puts me in shame"? i think that Anne still believe that because she knows that people are good but dont want to show it. He means that why she still putting this if they killed her, her mom and sister and she still believe that they are good.



5. For Each of the following events, identify one cause and one effect. (A) Mr. Van Daan's decision to steal food?(B) Mrs. Frank;s change of heart about wanting the Van Daan's to leave? the cause is that Mr. Van Daan steals food and the effect that the ther people dont get food and starved. the Cause that Mrs. franks to kick the Van Daans and the effects that he wont still no more food.



6. What are some possible causes of Mr. Van Daan's attitude toward Anne and Peter's relashionship? some possible causes of Mr. Van Daan's toward them is that he is happy that now peter is not going to be alone with the cat in his room.

7. Living in close quaters has multiple effects on the residents of the "secret annex" list three effects that result from this single cause. one single cause was that Mr. Van Daan was stealing food from children.one effect is that not theres not alot of food. second is that the children would starved. third is that he is selfish.

8. On a chart like the one shown, identify the possible motivation behind the actions listed.

Character Action Motivations
Miep = Brings flowers and cake to the attic rooms. She wants to help them
Mr. Van Daan = steals food from the cabinets. He was Hungry
Peter Van Daan = he gets along with Anne. He likes her.

9. What possible motivations might an informer have for telling the authorities about the families in hiding? i think the possible motivations for a informer for telling the authorities sabout the family is that maybe they hate the jews or hate the family and they want them out. that could be one or also to save there selfs like if they find out and they do something bad they could say that he knows where a family is that is hiding for he could be safe and not go to jail.
